COPROT is an organization where conservation projects find solutions with local stakeholders to protect the incredible biodiversity of the Osa Peninsula while also improving the quality of life for the community. We hope that in this way we can develop a sustainable situation where humans and wildlife are able to live in harmony, and where we join forces to conserve and regenerate the incredible ecosystem here.
Volunteer morning and night with sea turtle nesting. Help to rebuild hatcheries, relocate nests to avoid predation and assist hatchlings safely to the ocean. Learn about all the efforts this organization participates in to be mindful of the culture and community while still preserving this pristine habitat and the species that inhabit them!
Dr. Larry Wood is one of our hosts for this retreat as well as the Director and founder of the Florida Hawksbill Project. He is the exuberant turtle enthusiast that has been studying Hawksbill behavior in South Florida and throughout the Caribbean for almost 30 years now! He will be our all around wildlife guide in and out of the water, as well as answer any questions regarding these various projects.
Dr. Larry Wood also the director of the National Save the Sea Turtle Foundation and his teammate Ana Bennet raise and distribute funds to help asisst Sea Turtle Conservation efforts througout the oceans. Anna is also a master diver, capitain and permitted in water researcher for the NSTSTF.
With 500hr RYT Layna Moehl
Layna is a 500hr RYT yogi , Nature conservationist and international environmental enthusiast. Yoga and wellness practices intertwine with connection to nature and preservation of the planet. The more connected to ourselves, the more connected to nature and the more in tune we are with the presence of life. Overall the practice is a deep connection to the divine self within, to the higher power that connects us all, to mother nature that supports us in this experience. She has studied techniques of this connection throughout Central and South America, India and Sri Lanka, knowing there is not one way to embody and embrace this sacred practice of yoga. With an integration of breath, asana, reiki, mediation, chi, wisdom and devotion; yoga dissolves into a way of life rather than a practice. Experience life to the fullest with Layna as your wellness and adventure guide through this abundant jungle to sea habitat.
Layna also works closely with Larry in collaborating with research efforts and fund raising for the Florida Hawksbill Project and the NSTSTF. She is a profound free diver and surfer using breath work as a powerful tool to find a deep state of bliss in and out of the water, connecting with all things natural.
Sea Turtles, Exotic Birds, Jungle Cats & Reptiles
Dive deep into the jungle ambiance at the edge of Corcovana National park. This biodiverse habitat is an extension of the amazon located in the southern tip of the OSA Peninsula CR and holds a variety of some of the most exotic and unique species living in harmony. Get up close and personal with Rare Birds, Caymans, jungle cats , incredible reptiles and amphibians and many more!
Each day we will explore a new habitat and jungle path with expert local naturalists as well as participate in waterfall adventures, kayaking, beach horse back riding, local cacao farm tours and cultural experiences giving back to the local community.

Finca Exotica was built with the vision of acting as a center for sustainability, art and healthy living while enjoying the advantages of a beach ecolodge next to the famous Corcovado.
The luxury Oceanview cabins are tucked in the jungle with a breathtaking view of the ocean. You wake up to scarlet macaws and toucans coloring the morning sky. All of the rooms are completely open air with mosquito nets. They are also up high in elevation so be prepared to hike to your room, but get rewarded with the view of a lifetime!
